Our College Reunion – Day 5, 4/10/15 - Round 2 - DC Cherry Blossoms Viewing

Our College Reunion – Day 5 (4/10/15)

Round 2 – DC Cherry Blossoms Viewing

It’s been four days since our first preview of the DC Cherry Blossoms on 4/7/2015.  Tomorrow the whole town will be jam-packed with the Annual National Cherry Blossom Parade.  The first day of spring is supposed to be on March 20th; however, the Festival kicks off on a snowy and cold day before your guys were here.  Normally the parade is the biggest affair with all the roads closure in town.  That wouldn’t be a fun experience for us.

The weather is a cool 45 degrees with gray and cloudy sky.  LJ and Shinyee were in good spirits posing next to a pretty cherry tree among the arrays of pink flowers in full bloom.
Certainly, LJ, and Hsia Hwei had the taste of cold spring in DC.  I think both of them wouldn’t mind having the heavy winter coats on.
I rounded up with my tennis pal, Mimi, to come along with us before we leave for Hilton Head Island tomorrow.  She was the one initiated the Charleston road trip to visit her White Tara - her son's property - on 1/19/2015 when we all suffered the bitter cold cabin fever.

Three Retired Ladies’ adventurous and cultural immersion trip – Charleston, S. Carolina

LJ’s best shot with Washington Monument in the background – There is no shortage of photo ops in the Capital City.

LJ snapped a pose in front of the Japanese Stone Lantern, which might seem common, a feature in all of the Japanese gardens.  But, here it stood out sparingly with its unique aesthetics in U.S. Capital.  It’s a symbol of friendship between these two countries.

We are lucky to capture the stunning exhibit of natural beauty.  See all the cherry trees line up the water, dropping the petals into the waves and walkways.  There aren’t many tourists clogging up our pictures.  Tomorrow would be another story.

Making Dumplings from Scratch at Mimi’s House

Mimi, my tennis partner with a free-spirited personality invited us to make dumplings at her house.  Master Chef, Shinyee, brought her gadget, a wooden stick to make the wrapper skin like a pro.

We took this shot out on the deck – the gray sky and the trees in her backyard were all shrouded up in fog.  There was no sign of spring here, except the green grass, free of snow.
Jen-Jen, another retiree from our previous three seniors’ road trip to Charleston, S. Carolina, came along to have this fun, and all-hands-on-deck cooking party.  Tom, Mimi’s husband, chortled gleefully for a lovely dinner among all the “Pretty Women.”
The Theme “Live, Laugh, and Love” Continues

Well, we, all the retirees, had fun so far, and we want to retain the theme of our reunion “Live, Laugh and Love” until Ben, my husband joined us tomorrow for a week-long relaxation at our Grand Ocean villa at Hilton Head island, S. Carolina.
