Day 14 (Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey) Wednesday, October 17, 2012

We chased the beauty of autumn colors from Shenandoah National Park, Virginia to Princeton University via RT 539, where the two-lane country road boasted the picture perfect of rural farm land and tranquility of horse grazing pastures.  Lichun was so quiet throughout the whole ride along the way.  She later on shared with me that she was completely soaking in the beauty of autumn in the rural back road USA.  We strolled along the campus through walkways and archways, passed a few squirrels jumping on the trees collecting the acorns and students put on layers of fleece walking towards their classes.  On display were the colors of autumn – in hues of gold and red and many other colors.  It tells a vivid story of the fall season.  During this election season, the conversation easily centered on both Mrs. Obama and her brother attended this university on scholarship with excellent academic records.  I purchased one book from the roadside bookstore – “Wouldn’t Take Nothing for My Journey Now” from Maya Angelou, one of my favorite authors, while other folks resting on the bench after lunch.
We ran into the Circle of Animals – Chinese Zodiac signs displayed at the University’s Scudder Plaza.  Shinyee was the only one born in the year of the tiger.
We were all born in the year of the ox.
